Star Softball, Inc. is proud to announce its renewed affiliation with
USA/ASA Softball ofTexas.
This is a reunion of sorts as Greg
Huchingson and Roy Dean started Lone Star Softball back in the year 2000
with ASA Softball. Lone Star stayed with USA through the year 2007, when
they made the switch to another association. Now, 14 years later, Lone
Star has now returned to ASA Softball, which is under the umbrella of

Softball of Texas which is an affiliate of USA Softball, the National
Governing Body of softball,” said owner Greg Huchingson. “We are one of
68 local associations in the United States. USA Softball of Texas is the
area of Texas not located in the geographic area of Dallas, Ft. Worth,
San Antonio, and Houston. These are called Metro areas and each has its
own organization that is responsible for the USA Softball operation in
that metro area.
”Lone Star Softball will continue
to operate its popular Lone Star Shootout Series in cities and towns
across Texas, including the Metro areas plus the viable softball markets
like Tyler, Temple, San Marcos, Harlingen, Midland, Lufkin, McAllen, San
Angelo, El Paso and plenty of others.
Lone Star Softball has been widely
acclaimed on both State and National levels for its marquee events, such
as Winter Worlds, Battle For The Rings and of course the popular
Budweiser Softball Festival. None of these events will lose any of their
sizzle and pop, as the same Directors and UICs who have hosted these
events in the past will return this year.
USA Softball of Texas is divided
into Districts and each district has a District Commissioner that has
total responsibility for the district assigned to them. Each of these
District Commissioners may in turn appoint other district personnel such
as Deputy District Commissioners, District Youth Commissioners, District
Umpire-in-Chiefs, etc, to assist them in administering the USA Softball
of Texas programs.
USA Softball of Texas is comprised
of a State Commissioner, Deputy State Commissioner, State Youth
Commissioner, State Umpire-in-Chief, and At-Large Player
Representatives. The majority of these people make up the USA Softball
of Texas Executive Committee. Voting members of USA Softball of Texas
consists of District Commissioners, Deputy District Commissioners, and
District Youth Commissioners.
USA Softball of Texas conducts
state-wide meetings every January and October. During these meetings the
voting members establish rules, guidelines, bid and award state
tournaments, andconduct other pertinent business matters that allow USA
Softball of Texas to be a success. The January meeting is dedicated to
training ourselves to operate our program more efficiently.
